New Jersey: A love of helping others led to the loves of their lives

Together, they have fought fires, cut back metal to extricate accident victims from cars, taken turns compressing the chest of someone whose heart isn't beating and, since last fall, warmed baby bottles and changed diapers. A shared love of helping their neighbors led Hopewell Volunteer Firefighters Jim and Annie Ferry to fall in love with each other.

Propane tanks explode, one injured at Bellingham homeless encampment by ball fields

Multiple propane tanks exploded and at least one person was injured at a homeless tent encampment in the lower parking lot of Frank Geri Softball Fields, according to Bellingham police Lt. Dog killed in Vancouver house fire

A dog died in house fire Vancouver on Thursday night, according to the Vancouver Fire Department. Firefighters were called to 12311 S.E. McGillivray Boulevard at around 7:40 p.m. The flames were so intense that attacking firefighters had to withdrawal from the building. At one point a firefighter was temporarily trapped.

Man Who Stole Austin (TX) Fire Apparatus Faces Multiple Charges

Police stopped a stolen Austin fire truck on northbound I-35 by using spike strips, reports KXAN.

The suspect was arrested and identified as Frank Garcia Jr. He faces charges of theft of property equal to or greater than $300,000, unauthorized use of a vehicle, criminal mischief, criminal theft, and evading arrest/ detention with a vehicle. 

A spokesperson for the fire department said they are working to get more information on the damages their fire engine

FL Fire Stations May Get ‘Baby Boxes’

Florida lawmakers are considering a bill that would give a parent a longer window of time to surrender a newborn at a fire station or hospital, reports News 12.

The bill would also allow fire stations and hospitals to install a baby box, where a parent could leave the infant without having to hand them over in person to a firefighter or paramedic. 

The bill has passed Florida Senate health care panel but has not been approved by the full Senate.
