Clallam County Fire District 3 leaders have started forming a community paramedic program to help residents make non-emergency phone 9-1-1 phone calls.
Battalion Chief Elliott Jones said at a Feb. 13 fire commissioner special meeting that of Fire District 3’s approximate 8,500 annual emergency calls a year, about 1,800 are low acuity (low emergency).

Firefighters have been working to put out a "fully-involved" structure fire at an old plant in Polk County that went up in flames Tuesday afternoon.
The City of Cedartown said in a social media post that the fire engulfed the old Jockey plant on West Avenue. They asked that residents avoid the area and find other ways to travel.

VIDEO: First responders in Jeffersontown are celebrating the grand opening of their brand-new fire and EMS Station.
The ribbon cutting for Station 54 happened Monday morning at the new firehouse on Taylorsville Road, near the Gene Snyder.
The project has been in the works for about five years.
The firehouse will be staffed around the clock.

A series of intentionally set fires throughout Spokane kept fire crews busy throughout February; now, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) urges the public to take extra precautions to prevent further fires. The fires started on Feb. 12 around 7:16 p.m. near the 5400 block of West Barnes Road when SFD received a call of a fire coming from a parked van.
