The Walla Walla Fire Department has received money to help deliver the Safety Always Matters fire-safety program to students. Usually, firefighters get to visit schools to speak to students and have them participate in the program hands-on. The COVID-19 pandemic has made things different, not only for students but for firefighters as well.

East Wenatchee police are investigating a Sunday morning fire, believed to be arson, that left a home damaged.
Douglas County Fire District 2 responded just before 9 a.m. Sunday to a fire on the porch of a home in the 900 block of Tedford Street. A driver noticed the fire and was able to alert the resident in the home, according to police.

A woman was hospitalized Sunday evening when a fire broke out in her kitchen in South Seattle.
Firefighters were called to the 5200 block of Rainier Avenue South just before 8 p.m. for a report of a fire in a fourth-floor unit, according to Seattle Fire officials.
They found a woman had been injured and rushed her to Harborview Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition, officials said.
