University of California Irvine Scientists Working on COVID-19 Vaccine That Would Attack All Strains

UC Irvine scientists are working on developing a vaccine that would attack all strains of COVID-19 as well as a potential breakthrough that would solve many of the problems related to distributing the medicine, a UCI professor on the project said Thursday. Lbachir BenMohamed, a UCI School of Medicine professor, said his team is developing what they envision will be a vaccine that could work on all strains in the SARS-CoV-2 family.

Honor365 exhibit recognizes first responders, celebrates 20 years since 9/11

Young adults who turn 19 this year were born after 9/11, the day in 2001 when planes flew into the World Trade Center and Pentagon killing around 3,000 people. These teens know it as Patriot’s Day. It has been 20 years this coming September since the U.S. was attacked by air and hundreds of first responders, some fallen heroes, answered the call of duty to help at Ground Zero.

Fire destroys Washington Potato Company in Warden, evacuations lifted

VIDEO: People living near a fire that has destroyed Washington Potato Company in the small town of Warden can return to their homes on Friday morning, according to the Grant County Sherriff's Office. The fire initially prompted Level 3 evacuations due to the possibility of a large ammonia storage tank exploding but those evacuations have since been lifted, GCSO spokesperson Kyle Foreman said.

Bonita Springs Fire Control & Rescue District (FL) Fire Apparatus Rolls Over

A Bonita Springs Fire Control & Rescue District fire truck rolled over on the way to a kitchen fire, reports WINK News.

There were no reported injuries. The fire truck took a sharp turn and rolled over into a wooded area.

Firefighters still made it to the scene and were able to quickly put out the kitchen fire.

Royalston (MA) Uses Funds for Fire Equipment

Royalston is using funds from CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) Act to purchase defibrillators, reports Athol Daily News.

The replacements were needed as the units at the town building and some of the departmental units were over a decade old. The cost was nearly $11,000.

The fire department is also working on a project to place street numbers at businesses and homes.
