Coronavirus cases are reaching new heights in the most populated counties of Western Washington as Pierce County posted extremely high numbers of confirmed cases on Thursday.
But officials are also reporting record numbers of COVID-19 cases in King, Pierce, Snohomish and Thurston counties, a result of what health officials warned was likely to happen as cooler weather forced people indoors.

Moses Lake's police force "woefully" accepted a box of donuts from local firefighters after the sun set on a local donut shop last Friday. Red Door Café closed its donuts and espresso stand in the Larson housing area of Moses Lake last Friday. As a way to express their appreciation and half-cocked sorrow over its closure, the department jokingly sent a box of donuts with a melancholy-looking letter that read: "Our most sincere condolences for your loss.

Four firefighters and an off-duty Boston police officer were injured when a Boston Fire Department vehicle crashed into a bank less than a mile away from a fire scene early Thursday morning.
The fire truck crashed into a Bank of America around 2:26 a.m. at the intersection of Talbot Avenue and Washington Street in Dorchester.

The remains of Los Angeles firefighter Francisco “Frank” Aguilar, who went missing in Mexico in August, have been found after a monthslong investigation, officials announced Wednesday.
The Baja California central state prosecutor said the badly burned body was found on Oct. 23 in a desolate field in Rosarito, according to Border Report, an online news source from KTLA parent company Nexstar.
