The Wenatchee Fire Department labeled Saturday’s Travelodge fire to be undetermined but noted that the outdoor area which caught fire is frequented by smokers.
The burned area outside of the hotel was next to a “fence” of Arborvitae, all of which can easily catch fire, Chelan County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Kay McKellar said.

Every summer, local fire districts are called on to help battle blazes that threaten to consume homes and property. In rural areas, those districts are largely made of volunteers who stand by their neighbors in a time of need. Fire District 4 is one of those districts.

VIDEO: Substantial numbers of people have been violating closures around the state’s largest wildfire, the Lionshead, which prompted fire officials to remind people on Sunday that it is dangerous to enter the area and they could be fined up to $5,000 and sentenced to up to six months in jail.
Several agencies are responding including Spokane County Fire District 9 and Spokane Valley Fire.

The roof of a commercial building collapsed in East L.A. after a large fire broke out on Sunday night.
A sign that read, “Casa Olympica,” the name of a vintage clothing store, was seen in flames. Several other storefronts were also involved.
Los Angeles County Fire Department officials said the two-story strip mall is located in the 4700 block of East Whittier Boulevard near Arizona Avenue.
