Tunnel to Towers race canceled in New York, but some walk through tunnel on Sunday

Despite the cancelation of the annual Tunnel to Towers 5K run and walk due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, some people still walked through Battery Tunnel on Sunday. Frank Siller, brother of fallen firefighter, Stephen Siller, showed up to honor the memory of those who died on September 11, 2001.

Man rescued from Spokane garbage truck after crew heard him screaming

A man who was sleeping in a dumpster had to be rescued from a Spokane City garbage truck Monday morning. Spokane Fire Department officials said they received a call around 9:30 a.m. after a garbage crew heard screaming coming from inside their truck while they were emptying dumpsters near the Olive Garden on North Newport Highway.

South County Fire promotes Jahn Isotalo to assistant chief of operations

South County Fire Deputy Chief Jason Isotalo has been promoted to assistant chief of operations. In this role, Isotalo leads the regional fire authority’s operations division, which is responsible for equipping, staffing and operating 14 fire stations to provide prompt fire and emergency medical response to more than 250,000 residents of southwest Snohomish County.

Yakima Fire Department responds to three separate brush fires Thursday evening

Yakima Fire Department crews responded to three brush fires Thursday night near the 16th Avenue off-ramp from SR 12 westbound. The largest of the fires measuring about 2,500 square feet. Firefighters were alerted to the larger fire at 9:30 pm last night. Crews then found a small fire about 100 yards west of the main fire.

No injuries reported after oil barrels explode at T&R Towing in New York

PHOTOS: On Thursday September 24, 2020 at 2:50 pm the Bath Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for a working structure fire at T&R Environmental Services Haz Mat building located next door to T&R Towing on Route 415 North of the Village of Bath. Large plumes of heavy black smoke could be seen for miles.
