National First Responders Day: New York firefighter honored by Disney

It's National First Responders Day -- a day when the country comes together as a country to recognize the heroes who choose to run toward danger to save lives. Among them, firefighter Al Coombs of Brooklyn, who says he was inspired by his nurse mother. He was honored by our parent company Disney. The 43-year-old is a first responder at Engine 224 in Brooklyn Heights.

Third-alarm fire erupts in California strip mall

PHOTOS: Approximately 60 firefighters are working a 3rd-alarm fire in the city of San Bernardino Tuesday night. The fire was reported before 8:00 PM on October 27, 2020, at 4183 N Mountain View Avenue in San Bernardino. San Bernardino County Fire tweeted about the incident and reported fire in a multi unit strip mall with significant ember cast.

1,000 feet of hose needed to battle stubborn Monroe house fire

Firefighters had quite the challenge dousing flames that were burning a home in Monroe late Wednesday night. The fire was reported just before midnight at the 21400 block of 167th Ave. SE just outside the city limits, according to Snohomish County Fire District No. 7. Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from the home at the end of a very long driveway with no nearby source of water.

Franklin County: Man arrested for intentionally burning his camper, possession of narcotics

Franklin County Deputies were dispatched to assist with a suspicious fire in the 5000 block of Janet Road last week. While there Deputies were able to determine that the individual living inside the camper had intentionally started the fire. They also obtained information that narcotics were located on the property.

COVID positivity rate about 4 times higher in south King County compared to rest of county

After a two-month decline, there's an increase in COVID-19 cases across Washington. Health officials are particularly concerned about South King County where the positivity rates are about 4 times higher than the rest of the county. Paige Cambern said she rarely visits downtown Auburn now even though she lives close by due to concerns around the virus.
