Strike team from Moses Lake, Chelan County on day 7 at the Palmer Fire in Okanogan County

The Mid Columbia Strike Team, consisting of firefighters from Grant County Fire District 5, the Moses Lake Fire Department and Chelan County Fire District 8, are on day 7 at the about 18,000-acre Palmer Fire burning in Okanogan County. The strike team, led by Grant County Fire District 5 Capt. Travis Svilar, includes three trucks from fire district 5 and one truck each from Moses Lake and Chelan County.

Demonstration turns destructive in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood

A protest that started in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood turned destructive Monday night when demonstrators broke windows, sprayed graffiti and started a fire next to SPD's East Precinct. According to Seattle Police, the protesters marched from Cal Anderson Park to the West Precinct, where people began hurling objects at the building, breaking windows and spray-painting graffiti on the walls.

Select Thurston County Fire Crews Mobilized to Palmer Fire in North-Central Washington

A small number of Thurston County firefighters were recently deployed to Eastern Washington to help state and local agencies there with the worsening wildfire season. Two crewmembers from Southeast Thurston Fire Authority and four from South Thurston Fire and EMS were dispatched earlier early last week separately to the eastside and were setting up to assist with the Palmer Lake fire burning near the Canadian border in Okanogan County.

Huge fire engulfs apartment building under construction in central Phoenix

VIDEO: A huge fire broke out at an apartment building that is under construction in central Phoenix early Tuesday morning. Video from the scene shows massive flames engulfing the building north of 12th Street and Indian School Road. A large plume of black smoke could be seen for miles. Capt. Todd Keller with the Phoenix Fire Department said it is a two-story apartment building that has been under construction for about seven months.

Engine 6 roars back into Pennsylvania, restoring a tie to city’s firefighting history

PHOTOS: When Jeannette fire Chief Bill Frye and Mark Scalzitti were junior firemen, they would jump on the back of a 1965 Mack fire engine to respond to calls. Too young to drive it at the time, both have fond memories of getting suited up in the fire station and riding Engine 6 through town, the siren blaring.
