CDC: COVID-19 complication seen in kids is now found in adults

In May, doctors announced they were seeing a new and rare coronavirus complication in children. Now, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta warns, it’s appearing in adults, too. Called MIS-C, which stands for Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children, the complication manifests roughly two to four weeks after a coronavirus infection.

Crews battle fire at the Royal Coach building in Michigan, thousands without power

VIDEO: Crews are at the old Royal Coach building in Hastings Wednesday morning battling a massive fire. Due to the fire, thousands in the Hastings area are without power. According to Lt. Lani Forbes with the Freeport Fire Department, Barry County Central Dispatch alerted authorities around 3:30 a.m.

Hoquiam Fire Department Gaining New Assistant Fire Chief

While the Hoquiam Fire Department does not have a permanent Fire Chief, they have announced the appointment of a new Assistant Fire Chief. Interim Fire Chief Tom Hubbard, who serves as chief for the Aberdeen Fire Department and lends his services to Hoquiam, tells KXRO that the Hoquiam Fire Department and Mayor Ben Winkelman are announcing that Hoquiam Fire Department Captain Matt Miller will be appointed to the position of Assistant Fire Chief of the Hoquiam Fire Department effective November 1, 2020.

Lynden to add fire station second floor — with fire pole

The Lynden Fire Department is bursting at its proverbial seams. That might be because the Fourth Street station remains at the same dimensions as when it was built 50 years ago. Of course, in reality there has been growth of the department, and the city, in the meantime. Lynden Fire Chief Mark Billmire said the station originally functioned for an all-volunteer firefighter crew.

Spokane renegotiates deal for backup fire dispatchers; mulls hiring more of its own

The city of Spokane extended its agreement on Monday to utilize a county-led emergency dispatch agency for backup when it is short on its own fire dispatchers. The revised agreement was signed as the City Council considers a budget action that would allow the city to hire three more fire dispatchers of its own, alleviating the need to rely on the Spokane Regional Emergency Communications agency to fill in when the city crew is understaffed.
