PHOTOS: City officials invite area residents to join them next week in a celebration of the Fort Walton Beach Fire Department’s new fire engine.
City officials used $530,000 in half-cent sales tax money to pay for the 2020 engine, which can pump 1,500 gallons of water per minute and carries a full complement of firefighting, rescue and emergency medical tools and equipment.

The Yakima Health District reported 75 new COVID-19 cases and two more deaths Monday evening.
YHD says there are at least a total of 7,316 confirmed cases in Yakima County.
According to the health district, 138 people have died from COVID-19, and the 134 people who died had underlying health conditions.

Chelan County Commissioners predictably moved the county's Fire Hazard Level from ‘Moderate' to ‘High' Monday. "It's dried out quite a bit in the valley zone." said Fire Marshal Bob Plumb, "Down by the river we've had a number of fires. Even with the little bit of rain we got yesterday (Sunday), it's going to dry right back out today.

A double-wide mobile home was destroyed in a Sunday afternoon fire, Yakima County Fire District 5 officials reported.
Firefighters were called around 5 p.m. for a fire at 1262 Rader Road. Arriving crews found a fire under the front door and venting from the roof. The homeowner was attempting to put it out with a garden hose, according to a fire district news release.
