One man dead in house fire in Seattle's Ravenna neighborhood

One man is dead after a two-story house fire broke out Saturday afternoon in Seattle's Ravenna neighborhood. Seattle Fire Department responded to the house fire around 1 p.m. near 70th and Ravenna Ave. Officials said they found one man on the first floor dead. An elderly woman and man were able to escape the home before SFD arrived.

North Whidbey Fire Commissioners place levy lid lift on ballot

Commissioners for North Whidbey Fire and Rescue are hoping this will be the year that voters in the district approve an increase in the district’s property tax levy. Tuesday night, commissioners unanimously approved a resolution to place the 15-cent levy lid lift request on the November ballot. Nobody from the public commented and the commissioners adopted the measure without comment.

Crews credit smoke alarms for alerting family, saving Spokane Valley home after bathroom fire

Fire crews are once again crediting smoke alarms for alerting a family to a fire in their home. Spokane County Fire District 8 and Spokane Valley Fire Department crews responded to the home on S. Bowdiish High Ct. Friday around 1 a.m. Friday morning. A fire had started in the bathroom near an exhaust fan and had burned into the attic and through the roof.

Follow Up: Woodland, Clark County Fire & Rescue see benefits to having permanent arrangement

The arrangement for fire and emergency services between Woodland and Clark County Fire & Rescue could become permanent next month. Woodland and fire district voters will decide in the Aug. 4 election whether the district will annex the city into its coverage area. Voters in both the city and the fire district would need to pass resolutions by a simple majority to approve the annexation.
