New firefighter training facility planned for West Hills area of Bremerton

The private company responsible for the Navy’s firefighting training could be without a home next month when its lease at the Kitsap Readiness Center expires. WRG Fire Training Simulation Services — which provides maritime firefighter and damage control training for Navy personnel on all the ships in Bremerton and Everett, as well as the Coast Guard — has been operating out of the Kitsap Readiness Center on Carver Street for the last five years.

Missing Peoh Point hiker identified as firefighter, crews join in search efforts

The search continues Monday for the missing man out of Cle Elum, authorities have now identified him as a Firefighter. The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office Reports that Marcus Carroll, 24, works for the Snohomish County Fire District 7 and North County Fire & EMS. They say representatives from both agencies are assisting with the search.

Target practice turns into wildfire near Benton City

A wildfire that has spread more than 1,000 acres on Bureau of Land Management land near I-82 will continue to burn throughout the night, officials told KAPP-KVEW. Officials say the initial report is that the fire near Benton City started from people shooting at targets with guns; a ricochet caused a spark that started the fire.

Around 60 chickens die in structure fire near Moses Lake

About 60 chickens were killed in a structure fire Sunday afternoon in the Mae Valley area near Moses Lake. Grant County Fire District 5 firefighters were dispatched about 4 p.m. to a structure fire the 1200 block of Road D Northeast and arrived to find a 40-foot by 40-foot pole building ablaze, according to Capt.

Two-alarm fire damages east Vancouver apartment complex

A two-alarm fire heavily damaged an apartment building in east Vancouver late Saturday night, displacing more than 25 residents, according to the Vancouver Fire Department. Crews were dispatched at 10:44 p.m. to the Sunpointe Apartments, 900 S.E. Park Crest Ave., in the Cascade Highlands neighborhood north of Mountain View High School and arrived to find heavy fire showing from the structure.
