Mission to get antibody tests for 5,000 first responders in Arizona

It's a mission to get 5,000 Valley first responders coronavirus antibody tests. The United Phoenix Firefighters Association and the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association are helping their members get those tests. This week, the focus was on testing firefighters. Next week, they'll transition to testing police officers.

See how U.S. cities are thanking healthcare workers and first responders

For those of us who are stuck at home, the least we can do is show our appreciation for the people keeping us safe right now. And that's why so many of us have taken up clapping or singing to give thanks to healthcare workers, first responders and others. Some American cities, too, have found really creative ways to let their appreciation be known.

Man wanted in Walla Walla arson fire that caused $100K in damage to home

Police are trying to learn the name of a man wanted in connection to an arson fire in Walla Walla. Sgt. Eric Knudson with Walla Walla Police said someone started a house fire in the 900 block of W. Alder Street on April 7 around 5:20 a.m. No one was home at the time. However, the fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage.

Update on San Juan Island Fire & Rescue COVID-19 response and post pandemic response and service lessons learned

Timing is everything. More than one year ago, San Juan Island Fire and Rescue (SJIF&R) and San Juan Island EMS began working through recommendations from the citizens to join emergency services together into one organization. We have been working diligently to implement the unanimous agreement between San Juan County Public Hospital District #1 and Fire District #3 elected commissioners.

Dozen fire trucks mothballed amid drop in Las Vegas Strip emergency calls

The Clark County Fire Department is parking a dozen trucks because of a drastic reduction in emergency calls on the Strip, which was closed last month in response to the coronavirus pandemic, officials said. The crews of those units are being reassigned to other areas, and nobody is being laid off, officials said.
