An infant and father were injured when a shed caught fire over the weekend in Oakville. Undersheriff Brad Johansson said that on 05-25-20 at approximately 1:23 AM the Sheriff’s Office responded to a structure fire on Gibson Creek. Deputies arrived on scene and firefighters were putting out a fire that was burning a 20’ by 30’ shed that was being used as residence by a married couple and their 8 month old daughter.

A 24-year-old woman is accused of arson after flames damaged a residence in Tacoma, police said. Officers and firefighters responded to the scene, a home in the 400 block of South 38th Street, at about 7 p.m. after receiving reports that a fire had broken out there. When crews arrived at the scene, flames were showing along the side of the home.

A Spokane Valley family’s dog did not survive after an early-morning shop fire also spread to an RV. According to the Spokane Valley Fire Department, firefighters first responded to the 1100 block of E. 25th Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 23 after several people called 911. Crews found an RV in the driveway and a detached shop both fully involved.

On the heels of Gov. Jay Inslee’s approval for Clark County to apply for Phase 2 of reopening, Clark County Fire District 3 has announced its plan to waive fire inspection fees assessed to local businesses in the city of Battle Ground. According to the fire district, fire and life safety inspections of businesses are a cornerstone of the fire prevention program to identify and mitigate fire hazards before they become a risk.

National EMS Week is an annual event throughout the United States which celebrates and recognizes the hard work that all EMS providers do on a daily basis – from emergency medical technicians (EMTs) up to paramedics. These EMS providers can be paid, volunteer or a both (but at different agencies). No matter what the level, just remember that this person made a conscious decision to help someone in need, even while putting themselves (and/or their loved ones) at increased risk.
