Fire destroys metal shop in Stevens County

PHOTO: A fire destroyed a small metal shop early Sunday morning in Stevens County. According to a Facebook post from the Stevens County Fire District, crews responded to the fire around 2 a.m. The business was off of West Tumbleweed Drive in Suncrest, near Nine Mile Falls. Firefighters brought the fire under control quickly.

New bill would create fallen firefighter memorial in Olympia

A new bill proposed by Washington State Senator Kevin Van De Wege would create a memorial to honor firefighters who die in the line of duty. Legislation to build the memorial was passed Friday by the Senate State Government & Elections Committee. If signed into law, SB 5946 would allow the memorial to be built and maintained with funds from a ‘non-appropriated account.

Memorial for Walla Walla firefighter to close roads during procession

The Line of Duty Death Memorial Service for Walla Walla Fire Department Engineer Paramedic Ryan Pleasants is set for Jan. 27 at the Walla Walla Community College Dietrich Activity Center. Pleasants was found dead while on duty on Sun., Jan. 7. His cause of death was determined to be a “significant cardiac event,” according to a press release from the City of Walla Walla.

VIDEO: Fire breaks out at multi-family home in Rhode Island

Six families are displaced after a heavy fire broke out at an apartment building in Warren. Firefighters rushing to Arlington Avenue around 2 a.m. Friday found heavy smoke and flames shooting from the top floor. Bristol, Warren and Providence firefighters are on scene and still working to put out hot spots.
