Spokane Valley Fire Department launches new Cordico App for firefighters' health and wellness

Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) Fire Chief, Bryan Collins, announced plans to provide the Spokane Valley Fire Department with an officer wellness App to support their mental health and well-being. The wellness tool will be an App installed on phones to help Spokane Valley Firefighters and retired Firefighters with their personal health and wellness needs.

Wind, warm temperatures raise weekend wildfire risk

Hot and dry weather is predicted for Mother’s Day weekend (May 9-10), presenting an elevated risk for wildfires across the state. The Washington State Department of Natural Resources has already responded to 230 wildfires this year. Of those, 120 were caused by people burning debris. Winds this weekend could see gusts of up to 25 mph and temperatures are expected to reach the high 70s and mid-80s.

New York Mayor: City could see more layoffs of first responders without financial assistance from Washington

If the federal government does not come to the rescue with financial assistance, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says that the city may be forced to lay off city employees like police officers, firefighters, and healthcare workers. “They found $58B effortlessly for the airline industry, why are they not helping America’s cities and states get back on their feet,” de Blasio asked.
