Fully staffed and operational as of Monday, Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue’s new Lexington station will also be home for the agency’s new ladder truck.
The Lexington station is designed similarly to its sibling station in the Baker’s Corner neighborhood of West Longview, which itself came online only last month.

A March 30 barn fire near Battle Ground was caused by a heat lamp positioned too close to a container for baby chicks, according to the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office.
The lamp was meant to provide heat for chicks inside a plastic container but wasn’t given enough space, Deputy Fire Marshal Rick Serls said.

Every Friday at 10 a.m., Rick Freier is ‘The Fire Science Guy’.
On the Spokane Valley Fire Department’s Facebook page, he plans to go live every Friday until May 1st with lessons on fire safety and the science behind fire itself.
The first Fire Science Friday was on April 3rd, where Freier taught an introductory lesson on what fire is to begin with.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources has issued an early season burn ban in Eastern Washington.
The ban goes into effect Friday and prohibits all outdoor burning, including small debris fires.
According to the state DNR, the ban was issued in response to forecasted dry and gusty winds over the next couple of days.

Starting Thursday, the Hendersonville Fire Department will be handing out important cleaning protocols for residents who may have come into contact with COVID-19.
The three-page fact sheet covers deep cleaning and disinfecting and other CDC-approved protocols.
The information will be disseminated every time Hendersonville Fire and EMS crews go out on a COVID-19 call, whether the patients are positive or not.
