A driver who crashed into a guardrail in Stevens County had to be airlifted from the scene Thursday afternoon.
According to Stevens County Fire District 1, a suspected medical event caused the driver to crash directly into a guardrail on Highway 292 just west of Shores Acres Road.
Approximately 6-8 feet of guardrail ended up in the passenger compartment, trapping the victim inside.

People calling 911 in Pierce County might face some extra questions from dispatchers about coronavirus symptoms.
Starting Thursday, Sound Sound 911 dispatchers have started asking those who call for medical aid if they’re experiencing any coughs, fevers or shortness of breath.
It’s an additional precaution to protect first responders and the people they help, said South Sound 911 spokesperson Kris McNamar.

A person has been found dead inside a car that exploded and erupted into flames Thursday morning in a Woodinville parking lot.
Firefighters and deputies responded to the scene, in the 15500 block of Woodinville Redmond Road NE, at about 10:10 a.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle explosion and fire.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department says it will be suspending all March events as a precaution and will be following a contingency plan to ensure citizens and employees stay safe and healthy amid the coronavirus outbreak.
SVFD has suspended upcoming CPR and Stop the Bleed training programs, station tours, smoke alarm installations, fire extinguisher classes, Community Risk Reduction public education programs and public events.

City leaders are upset with how King County picked an Econo Lodge in Kent as a quarantine facility for people with the coronavirus and the potential long-term use of the facility.
“We are very concerned about the public health and safety implications this has for our community,” Mayor Dana Ralph said at a Wednesday press conference in Council Chambers at City Hall.
