Fire incinerates RV in Chelan Falls

Chelan County Fire District 7 responded to a blaze early Tuesday that engulfed an RV in Chelan Falls. Fire crews were called out to the blaze on Wyoming Street just after 3:00 a.m. The older RV was situated next to an orchard near some other fruit worker barracks. Chief Mark Donnell initially told iFIBER ONE News that the RV was occupied but further intel revealed that it was vacant.

Big Climb fundraisers in Seattle postponed over coronavirus fears

The Big Climb fundraising events in Seattle have been postponed as the number of coronavirus cases continues to grow in western Washington. The first Big Climb event, in which 2,100 firefighters from 27 states and six countries race up the stairs of Columbia Tower to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, was set for March 8.

Fire at Union Gospel Mission caused by improperly stored oily rags, Spokane Fire Department says

A fire at the Union Gospel Mission on Trent late Tuesday evening was caused by improperly stored oily rags, according to the Spokane Fire Department. SFD teams found the fire contained in a storage room near the kitchen. The building was evacuated and smoke filled the space. Firefighters stayed at UGM for two hours, ventilating the building.

11 South King Fire members recognized for department promotions, employment

Eleven South King Fire & Rescue members were recognized for recent department promotions at last Tuesday night’s commissioner meeting. Fire Chief Vic Pennington, who took over the position on Jan. 1 following the retirement of former chief Dr. Allen Church, was recognized as top command for the department.

Update: 12 quarantined Kirkland firefighters showing 'flu-like' symptoms

Twelve of 30 firefighters and police officers in Kirkland who have been quarantined after potential or direct exposure to the COVID-19 virus at the city's LifeCare facility are now showing "flu-like" symptoms, according to city of Kirkland officials. The 30 all had been quarantined after they had responded to calls at the LifeCare Facility in the days before and during an outbreak of COVID-19 that was discovered at the center.
