Kennewick Firefighters Union responded to 10,333 calls for 2019

As 2019 comes to an end, the Kennewick Firefighters Union, IAFF Local 1296, reflects back at the calls they responded to through out the year, all 10,333 of them. Officials with the Union said on Wednesday, they finished the year 10,333 calls for service, but that the total unit responses were much higher.

Report: First Responder Mapping System in K-12 Schools

In 2003, the Legislature directed the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) to create a statewide first responder mapping system for schools and other public buildings. The system is intended to provide information to emergency response agencies for natural disasters, criminal acts, and other incidents.

Lakeview Home Burns for Second Time in 6 Months

A house in Lakeview was gutted by the second fire in six months Monday night, according to fire officials. Firefighters responded to the wood construction home, located at the intersection of Ephrata Avenue Northwest and Franklin Street Northwest, around 7:30 p.m. Monday night for a report of flames showing at the residence.

Woodinville firefighters make a difference in people's lives

Firefighters dedicate themselves to saving lives and minimizing damage to property. Woodinville firefighters commit themselves to help others and making a difference, in addition to doing both. They accomplish this through the Woodinville Firefighters Benevolent Fund, which focuses on providing financial assistance to community members in need of a little extra help, especially during the holidays.

OSHA report: 911 operators failed to tell first responders that everyone was out of house in fire that killed Illinois captain

VIDEO: An OSHA report on the fire that left a fire captain dead and three other firefighters injured in Bethalto, Illinois, said communication problems contributed to the dangerous conditions at the fire. Godfrey Fire Captain Jake Ringering was killed in a fire at 4064 Culp Lane on March 5. An OSHA report of working conditions at the fire was completed in September and was released to 5 On Your Side Monday.
