Lewis County Fire District 6 has scheduled a live-fire training exercise for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 7 in the 200 block of Fay Road west of Adna.
The district is warning residents of the exercise — which will involve a fully involved house fire — and states that people in the area are likely to see large plumes of smoke and fire department vehicles in the area for most of the day.

Spokane Valley firefighters responded to a mobile home on fire around 5:30 Wednesday morning. The home, near Appleway Blvd. and Vista Rd., was a complete loss.
Everyone inside got out safe but crews say pets are unaccounted for. The Red Cross is helping those who were displaced by the fire.
Crews had Appleway Blvd.

Firefighters and guests danced the night away at Whitman County Fire District 12’s inaugural Masquerade Ball to benefit community education Saturday night at SEL Event Center.
Mirenda Stenbakken, Emergency Medical Services chief, oversaw planning the event. She said the ball was initially planned for 2020 but they didn’t want to wait that long before hosting it.

A Worcester fire lieutenant died and several firefighters were injured early Wednesday in a fire in a multi-family home.
Worcester Fire Department Lt. Jason Menard, 39, of Worcester, died while battling the fire at 7 Stockholm St.
When Ladder 5 arrived at the burning building just before 1 a.m. there was heavy fire coming from the building, and firefighters were told that a baby was possibly trapped on the third floor.

She's a familiar face with the Duluth Fire Department. And now, Marnie Grondahl is the first female chief-level officer in the department's history.
Dulth Fire Chief Shawn Krizaj appointed Grondahl to be the next Deputy Chief of Life Safety and Administration.
She's served in the role of Interim Deputy Chief since May, and was the Fire Marshal for about eight years prior.
