Crews respond to fire in Finley

VIDEO: Crews said a 35-foot RV caught fire in Finley on Tuesday. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 204607 E. Finley Rd. just before 4 p.m. No one was injured. Benton County Fire District 1 Chief Lonnie Click said the fire spread quickly due to strong winds, causing some damage to a couple of nearby vehicles.

Trio of unrelated fentanyl deaths in King County stir concern

A heartbroken family in Washington State is sharing a warning after three unrelated deaths from from fentanyl-related overdoses occurred in one day. The deaths occurred within two miles of the other, an alarming trend in King County, local public health officials said. Officials said the fentanyl was found in counterfeit Percocet and oxycodone pills.

Pasco firefighters investigating explosion in hotel room bathroom

Police and firefighters are in Pasco at the Loyalty Inn investigating reports of an explosion in a room of the hotel located at 1800 W Lewis Street. According to Deputy Chief Ed Dunbar with the Pasco Fire Department, the explosion happened around 5:15 a.m. inside the bathroom of a room. There was no fire after the explosion.

Yakima County firefighters respond to blaze between Toppenish and Mabton

Multiple fire agencies responded to a blaze between Toppenish and Mabton on Tuesday evening. According to Yakima County Fire District #5, a dozer was sent to help extinguish the fire that started before 7:30 p.m. “Impressive fire behavior for this February evening,” wrote Yakima County Fire District #5 staff in a Facebook post.

New Orleans firefighters boycott overtime, want more hires, Union rep says

New Orleans firefighters claim current staffing shortages threaten their ability to put out fires in the city on a timely basis. "When it comes down to the actual manpower on the streets, we're at critical mass now," Firefighters Union President Aaron Mischler said. According to the Mischler, his members will no longer work excessive overtime to cover for a city administration and department that can't attract or retain employees.
