"It's not unusual to have an overdose every day," says the Rockford Fire Department's Mobile Integrated Healthcare manager Shannon Kopp. "We're seeing it a lot." Winnebago County has the highest overdose drug problem in the state per capita. The Rockford Fire Department is trying to reduce those numbers through its "Knock and Talk" initiative.

New York City lost two more of its bravest to 9/11-related illnesses. Retired firefighters Paul Deo, Jr. and Richard Jones both died Friday, joining hundreds of other first responders who succumbed to diseases contracted at Ground Zero in the days and weeks after the Twin Towers fell. ”Nearly two decades later, our FDNY family continues to lose remarkable men and women who never wavered in their commitment to protecting life and property in our city," said FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro.

A man and woman were found dead in a mobile home that caught fire Sunday night in East Olympia, officials said. Crews responded to the scene, in the 3500 block of 83rd Avenue SE, at about 8:30 p.m. after receiving reports of smoke and flames at the residence, said Lt. Ray Brady of the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.

A lint-clogged dryer is being blamed for a blaze that burned a North Seattle townhome Sunday night, leaving a family of three without a place to stay for a while. Flames were spotted pouring out of the third floor of the unit along the 14300 block of Midvale Ave. North just after 11 p.m., according to Seattle Fire.
