Spokane-area crews quickly extinguish house fire in East Central area

Spokane-area firefighters responded to a house fire in the East Central area near Underhill Park Thursday morning, preventing the fire from spreading from the second story. Spokane Fire and Spokane Valley Fire Departments responded to the fire at a residence in the 2900 E. Block of Hartson Ave. around 1 a.

Texas Firefighter Seriously Injured in Apparatus Rollover

MATADOR, Texas – A Matador firefighter is recovering from injuries received when he and two other firefighters were involved in a rollover.

Firefighter Logan Jones was flown to University Medical Center when the firetruck he was in rolled over several times while responding to a fire, according to KAMC.

The Matador Fire Department and other Motley County Fire Department units responded to the crash and worked to remove Jones.

The two other firefighters in the truck with Jones were not seriously injured.

Houston firefighters turn up heat on mayor over trucks with no AC

In the midst of a serious heatwave, many Houston firefighters have had to operate out of trucks that lack air conditioning. This has prompted the firefighters union to demand the city repair its aging fleet, the Houston Chronicle reported. Marty Lancton, president of the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association, told Mayor Sylvester Turner in a letter this week to “dispense with the excuses and political rhetoric about what can or cannot be done.

South Carolina chief says fire trucks now properly staffed, but for how long?

Columbia-Richland County fire trucks are now fully staffed after the firefighters union claimed that short staffing was putting firefighters and some neighborhoods in danger. Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins confirmed the trucks now are fully staffed, and he hasn’t yet needed to cut in other areas. “We’re going to leave it like this and then reevaluate,” he said.
