New Lenoir (NC) Fire Station Dedicated

The City of Lenoir has opened a new fire station, which is the city’s third, reports WHKY 14.

About 100 people gathered at the station to dedicate and officially open the new facility.

Station No. 3 will house one fire engine, four Firefighters, and a Battalion Chief. The new firehouse will provide faster response to the eastern part of the city. The new station has five bedrooms, a conference room, a commercial kitchen, and a multi-bay garage to house Engine No. 3 and other equipment. The building also incorporates natural gas heating.

Tilbury (PA) Fire Station Ceases Operations

After 70 years, Plymouth Twp. Fire Rescue Tilbury Station 169 abruptly ended operations, reports The Citizens' Voice.

A township spokesman said the fire department had more debt than the township could take on.

The trouble appears to have begun a decade ago, when the station took out a roughly half-a-million-dollar U.S. Department of Agriculture loan to upgrade its facility. 

The department relied on fundraisers such as its annual haunted house and a weekly bingo game to make the payments.

New Madison (WV) Fire Station

For nearly two years, the Fairmont fire department has been looking for new headquarters, reports WDTV West Virginia.

The new building is designed to effectively and safely allow to fire fighters to perform their responsibilities.

Construction is set to start up late in October.

Moberly (MO) Fire Department Works to Upgrade Radio System

The Moberly Fire Department would like to upgrade its radio system, reports Moberly Monitor Index.

Fire Chief George Albert said the equipment would often lose signals to one another or receive “skips,” from other fire agencies’ radio traffic, which impeded communication.

The system upgrades cost approximately $35,000, which was funded mostly through a $25,000 donation from Orscheln Industry Foundation in December.

London (KY) Fire Department to Upgrade Fire Equipment

The London Fire Department will receive a new fire truck and updated fire equipment, reports The Sentinel Echo.

The city council approved the $129,962 purchase at a recent meeting. This truck will replace a 33-year-old truck.

The new truck will have improved safety features, such as not having an open-cab and having the ability to carry 55 gallons.

Firefighters will also receive lighter gear and new oxygen tanks, or SCBAs. The current SCBAs are 15 years old.
