Kirkland, other crews respond to two-alarm house fire in Totem Lake

The Kirkland Fire Department (KFD) responded to a single-family house fire at the 13300 block of 117th Avenue Northeast in the Totem Lake neighborhood the morning if June 26. The two-alarm fire began Wednesday morning and quickly spread to a neighboring home, according to a press release. Kirkland deputy fire chief Dave Van Valkenburg, who was on the scene, said one male and a dog were able to get out of the house and there are no injuries and everyone has been accounted for.

Flash flooding, wildfire starts possible in Eastern Washington due to hazardous weather

The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Spokane has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for much of North Central Washington today. The bulletin was officially issued at 5:22 this morning due to atmospheric conditions which are likely to produce scattered thunderstorms in the region. Some of these storms could be strong and become capable of producing gusty winds in excess of 40 mph, frequent lightning, hail, and torrential rain.

Burning vehicle on I-82 leads to brush fire south of Kennewick

A vehicle fire on I-82 near Coffin Road that turned into a brush fire at about 11:40 a.m. is now contained. According to Benton County Fire District #1 Battalion Chief Don Taylor, a pickup was traveling westbound near Coffin Road, had some sort of problem, pulled over on the side of the road and burst into flames.
