The opening an East Bay fire station that was originally scheduled for May 1 has been delayed until Aug. 1, according to the Contra Costa Fire District. The staff for Fire Station 16 in Lafayette has been operating out of Station 15, just across the freeway, since May 1, ConFire spokesman Steve Hill said.

Members of the Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department welcomed a new fire truck to the fleet this week.The $690,000 2019 E-One Typhoon Teleboom replaces the retiring Engine 19, a Teleboom that was bought in 1987 for about $217,000, Thibodaux Fire Board President Ron Bourgeois said."We're always looking to purchase equipment for our fleet that best serves the needs of our community," Bourgeois said.
