Spanaway family believes son died from vaping-related illness

A grieving family from Spanaway says they want to send out a warning against vaping and the use of e-cigarettes after they believe their grandson died from vaping. Hadynn Outcalt-Arends, 23, recently died while honeymooning in Oregon. At this point, the family is still waiting for autopsy results to see what the exact cause of death was, but the family believes they already know.

Grant County haystack fires more than quadruple year-over-year

Grant County Fire Marshals are now using the word “unusual” to describe the frequency of hay fires seen in 2019. Saturday night’s massive blaze on Rd. 3 NW between Moses Lake and Ephrata was this year’s 13th haystack fire. Deputy Fire Marshal Crue Woodard says the volume of hay fires far exceeds the three recorded in the county in 2018.

Update: 397 closed after garage burns near Lechelt Road in Finley

VIDEO: Highway 397 was shut down for about two hours Thursday afternoon as firefighters battled a blaze in a Finley garage near Lechelt Road. People spotted the fire coming from the shop shortly before 2:45 p.m. Someone was working in the shop earlier in the day but had left, said Tracy Baker, the Benton County Fire District 1 public information officer.

Fire starts in backyard of Finley home

Firefighters are extinguishing a fire in a backyard in Finley Thursday morning. Around 5:20 a.m., first responders were alerted to the fire at a home near Bryson Brown Road and South Finley Road. The fie has damaged part of a fence, but there was no damage to the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Florida county mourns the loss of fire chief killed on duty

Escambia County is mourning the loss of Dwain S. Bradshaw, age 41, a Volunteer District Chief at Escambia County Fire Rescue Station #1 in Bellview and Volunteer Assistant District Chief for ECFR Station #2 in Beulah, who was killed this morning while on scene responding to a multi-vehicle accident on the Muscogee Bridge.
