The Middletown Fire Department is donating a truck to the Caribbean island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, reports WLWT 5.

Currently the island nation uses a pickup truck with a small tank of water in the back.

The fire department is also including a fan, a self-contained breathing apparatus and multiple ground ladders.

The station house at Kalkaska Township Fire Department Station No. 7 might soon have a new addition to its fleet of emergency vehicles, reports The Review.

The Village Council was scheduled to formally authorize the conveyance of a vintage 1920s Ford fire engine to Station No. 7. The truck is currently in storage at the village's DPW facility.

The vintage fire truck had been stored at the Kalkaska Clean Water Treatment Plant before being moved to the village’s Department of Public Works garage at the Kalkaska Village Offices.

The Clark County Fire District 6 Board of Commissioners appointed an employee of two decades to take the reins as fire chief next year — serving among only 50 female fire chiefs nationwide. Kristan Maurer will become fire chief Jan. 1, according to a Fire District 6 blog post. The district’s website indicates that Maurer is already serving as one of two assistant chiefs.

A small brush fire Wednesday afternoon along Moses Lake was caused by a homeless man attempting to light a propane heater. The fire was first reported at about 12:50 p.m. along the shoreline behind West Marina Drive. The man told Moses Lake police he was attempting to use a propane heater in his tent but the propane tank wasn’t installed correctly.
