Volunteers from two stations merge to form new volunteer fire department in Pennsylvania

Mechanicsburg’s two volunteer fire companies are joining forces to serve the borough as one new entity, according to a press release issued Wednesday. The newly formed Mechanicsburg Volunteer Fire Department was formed to improve public safety services and create a stronger volunteer fire-rescue service to serve the borough and surrounding communities, company officials said in the release.

Texas fire department stands by response times during deadly July Fourth holiday

The Fort Worth Fire Department is standing behind its response protocol after a deadly Independence Day holiday. The department responded to hundreds of calls during a 24-hour period. During one call, a 19-year-old died of fireworks burns. The fire department released a snapshot of its work on July Fourth.

Puyallup firefighting survivor opens up in new radio profile

Daniel Lyon, the Puyallup firefighter who lost three comrades and suffered severe burns in the 2015 Twisp River Fire, still has major life goals ahead of him. “The fire didn’t burn those goals out of me,” he tells KNKX Radio of Tacoma in a new interview and profile by journalist Kari Plog and producer Ariel Van Cleave.

Brentwood (CA) Working Toward New Fire Station

 
 

Ad-hoc committees for both the city and ECCFPD in the past few months have been considering sites and gathering ideas for the eventual construction of new fire stations to serve the growing communities if revenue becomes available.  

On Tuesday, the City Council unanimously approved its committee’s recommendation to begin seeking proposals for architectural services, so it can identify design and costs for construction of a district fire station. If the ECCFPD board, which meets Wednesday night, also approves the proposal, the city will then have to amend the general plan to change the land use designation at the site.
