Man accused of lighting fire inside popular Pullman nightclub

An alleged arsonist started a fire inside the bathroom of a popular Pullman nightclub, police said. No one was hurt during the fire at Stubblefields, which happened shortly before 1:00 a.m. Friday. A man reportedly walked into a bathroom and discovered paper towels in the trash can were on fire. He quickly extinguished the flames and told the bouncers.

West Plains agencies hold combined fire training academy

The West Plains will soon have a host of new firefighters to serve on the area’s four fire departments, and for the first time, all are being trained together in one location. Firefighter recruits from Airway Heights, Cheney, Spokane County Fire District 10 are all learning the firefighting trade with recruits from Spokane County Fire District 3 at its training facility on Presley Drive in Cheney.

Fire engulfs SUV, cracks nearby apartment windows in Olympia

PHOTOS: Flames engulfed and destroyed a SUV that was parked next to an apartment building in Olympia on Wednesday afternoon. The fire happened about 4:03 p.m. at 1225 Fern St. SW. The fire was so intense, it cracked some nearby apartment windows, but no apartments caught fire, fire officials said. No injuries were reported.

Washington state firefighter dies after suffering burns to more than half of his body

An Okanogan County assistant fire chief who suffered burns to more than half of his body died from his injuries on Wednesday. Assistant Chief Christian Johnson was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle nearly a month ago after suffering severe burns while fighting the Spring Coulee Fire south of Okanogan, Washington.
