Two Injured in Orondo Crash

Two drivers were injured yesterday when their cars collided on an icy stretch of Highway 97 about 5 miles North of Orondo. State Troopers say it happened when 17 year old William Shindler of Orondo lost control of his Southbound vehicle. It crossed over into the Northbound lane where he was struck by 43 year old Olivia Acevedo of Monitor.

First responders prepare for wildfire season before snow even melts in Benton County

Benton County Emergency Management (BCEM) is already thinking ahead about the fire season, and they want to make sure all Tri-Cities agencies are on the same page. BCEM leaders hosted a symposium today to get all sorts of response agencies in the same room to discuss wildland fire response in our community.

Follow Up: Businesses react after man is charged in string of Seattle area arsons

VIDEO: Months after a series of fires damaged or destroyed five businesses in Seattle over a four-week period, police now have a suspect. Now business owners in the Queen Anne, Ballard, and Fremont neighborhoods are relieved. Police believe Matthew Hooper, 38, is responsible for the five arsons last fall, including a massive fire at the Gascoigne Lumber Co.

Catoosa County (GA) to Purchase Fire Equipment

 
 

“Back in Dec., we requested to go out to bid for 50 new breathing apparatuses,” Camp said. “This would be purchased out of the 2014 SPLOST funds, which currently has a balance of $1.2 million.  

Camp says the need for the new gear stems several air tanks getting up there in age.  

“Our department currently has 83 air packs, and 33 of those are around the 2008 or 2009 year model,” Camp said. “It’s the other 50 that we need to replace.”
