Man burning weeds lights Richland neighbor's house on fire

A homeowner's small fire in Richland got out of control and caused four homes to lose power. The homeowner says he was burning weeds at his house on Cedar Ave., when a gust of wind carried the fire to neighboring shrubs. He then said the fire spread rapidly to a neighbor's car, home and utility pole.

22-year-old Kennewick man wanted for assaulting, kidnapping girlfriend and setting her clothes on fire

A 22-year-old Kennewick man has a nationwide extraditable warrant out for his arrest after he assaulted and kidnapped his girlfriend, set some of her clothes on fire, and then took off with their 3-year-old after being confronted by a concerned bystander. On April 1 at about 6:30 p.m., Kennewick Police officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 100 block of S.

River Islands (CA) Celebrates Fire Station

But as the City of Lathrop continues to grow by leaps and bounds – with the majority of that residential growth focused in River Islands and on land west of I-5 – the construction of a fire station to serve that community and house the district’s administrative offices represented the dawning of a new era for the agency. 

 Station 35 will be the second in the district that was constructed to be able to accommodate two full crews working simultaneously – the first being Station 34 which serves the Mossdale development and the new residential and commercial growth around Lathrop City Hall. 

But when it’s fully staffed – which could take up to five years depending on whether the rate of growth in River Islands is sustained – the new station will operate both an engine and a truck company to meet the demand.

Brunswick (ME) Will Borrow $13.5M for New Fire Station

During public comment, there was overwhelming support from residents for the project without sending the decision to referendum. Councilors narrowly defeated a $15 million plan, opting instead to borrow $13.5 million for the project.

Councilor Jane Millett, who initially voted for the $15 million plan, said she was “extremely disappointed,” but is glad the $13.5 million plan was approved.

New Fire Apparatus Added to Liberty County (GA) Fleet

It’s been seven years since Liberty County has purchased new fire trucks, so this is a new and great addition to their fire services.  

EMS was also able to get new equipment because of SPLOST funding.

Councilman Marion Stevens said on Wednesday that the cost of these new fire trucks was about $749,000. One fire truck will be stationed in the McIntosh community and the other in Sunbury.
