Michigan firefighters battle fire at own station; 3 firefighters injured

The Blissfield Township Fire Department caught on fire around 6:30 this morning. According to the Blissfield Fire Chief Dale Fruchui, there was heavy smoke and fire in the attic and in the truck bay. Riga, Palmyra, Deerfield and Madison Township Fire Departments were called to assist. Three firefighters were transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but we're told they're okay.

One person with minor burns after Airway Heights mobile home fire

An Airway Heights family lost their home in a fire Sunday night. The fire started at a mobile home in the Vietzke Mobile Home Park, on South Craig Road, shortly after 8 p.m. Some neighbors packed their things, fearing the fire would spread to their homes. Crews quickly responded and prevented the fire from damaging any other homes though.

Bainbridge Island Fire Department to seek permanent EMS levy

Enough with the Band-Aids, despite how long they stick. Officials with the Bainbridge Island Fire Department want to make the agency’s property tax levy for emergency medical services permanent. Fire commissioners recently agreed, by an unanimous vote, to put before voters a permanent EMS levy. It will appear on the Feb.

Off-duty Edmonds firefighter recognized for efforts to save man on Lake Whatcom

Off-duty South County Fire & Rescue firefighter Antonio “Tony” Robinson, who works out of Edmonds’ Station 17, was recognized Saturday for his efforts last summer to help save the life of a former Olympic rower who suffered sudden cardiac arrest on Lake Whatcom. Charles Hamlin, 71, a rower in the 1968 Olympics, was on Lake Whatcom in June when he appeared to have a seizure.
