According to TFD, the crew at Station 11 was cooking dinner Sunday evening when they received an emergency call. When the firefighters returned to the station, they noticed that smoke filled the kitchen and a fire was on the stove.

The crew quickly extinguished the blaze, but the station near Broadway Boulevard and Alvernon Way received some damage. Authorities said the fire damaged kitchen cabinets and the room’s ceiling. The main station also received smoke damage.
“This unfortunate accident carries the important lesson of making sure that cooking food is not left unattended,” TFD officials said in a press release. “If it can happen to firefighters, with our focus on fire prevention, it can happen to anyone.”
Tucson Fire said 32 percent of fire incidents around the United States are caused by cooking fires.
