President Trump says he's cutting off FEMA money for California fires

President Donald Trump said in a Wednesday tweet that he is cutting off federal money to fight California wildfires, claiming the money is being wasted. "Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forrest fires that, with proper Forest Management, would never happen," Trump said. "Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no more money.

Pension fund offers little relief for 8,000 Ohio police, fire retirees who lost health coverage

VIDEO: The discontent among the state of Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund members is understandable. They signed up for jobs that provided pensions and paid health care. New simulation technology helps train Illinois firefighters

VIDEO: Driving a fire engine is more difficult than firefighters make it look, especially when rushing to a fire. New simulation technology is now available to help prepare firefighters for any situation. Shawn Priddy, Herrin Fire Chief explains how the simulation works, "There's scenarios where you respond with lights and sirens, there's blind intersections that you can't see around, vehicles run red lights like in everyday life, there's people that walk out in front of you, there's times you're in a rural sitting and deer come across the road so it's a very lifelike experience.

New York: Judge sides with city in former fire chief’s suit

The city of Canandaigua was within its rights to terminate former Canandaigua Fire Chief Mark Marentette and followed due process in doing so, according to a decision dated Jan. 8 from United States District Court Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford. Marentette in September 2017 filed a civil rights suit claiming his 1st and 14th Amendment rights were violated when he was fired and his right to a fair hearing was violated.

SUV smashes into building in Richland; Medics rush driver to hospital

A driver of an SUV is seriously hurt when the SUV they were driving smashed into a building on Tuesday night. The crash happened just before 9 PM on the 1000 block of Jadwin. The building is next to Jimmy John's. The Richland Fire Chief tells Action News the SUV plunged into the building and then sparked a fire that fire crews put out in minutes.
