North Idaho fire chief uses bright new method to connect firefighters with community

VIDEO: A growing North Idaho fire district is opening their doors to their neighbors in a bright new way. At the Mica Kidd Fire District just south of Coeur d'Alene, when the red light is on outside the fire hall, it's an open invitation to the community to grab a cup of coffee, come inside, and meet their firefighters.

No arrests made in Alabama fire station shooting three months later

VIDEO: It’s been three months since a vicious attack at a Birmingham fire station that left one firefighter dead and another injured. July 12 was when an assailant fired multiple shots into the bay of Fire Station 9, and to this day no arrests have been made. Firefighter Jordan Melton died from injuries he suffered in that attack.

Yakima County Fire District 5 seeks financial aid for crucial upgrades and equipment replacement

Local firefighters are in need of saving. Yakima County Fire District 5 (YFD5) says they've run out of money to replace outdated equipment and make stations reasonable for their hardworking firefighters. Geographically, fire district 5 is the largest district in the state. It was incorporated in 1947 and since then, fire leaders say they have never had to ask for a tax increase.

First female firefighter for Shoreline Fire Department retires after 30 years

On September 26, 2023, Firefighter/Paramedic Sabine Arnold worked her last shift of a 30-year career with the Shoreline Fire Department. Sabine started with Shoreline Fire in 1993 as a Firefighter/EMT. In 1999, Sabine served as an Acting Lieutenant prior to being selected to attend the University of Washington’s Paramedic Training Program where she graduated from Class #26 in July 2000.
