Martin Pang, who set fire that killed 4 Seattle firefighters, to be released from prison

Martin Pang, who set fire to a Seattle warehouse in 1995 in hopes of collecting an insurance payout — a blaze that killed four firefighters in the worst loss of life in the department’s history — will be released from prison on Thursday. Commercial fire damages Wenatchee building

This morning at 10:42, emergency officials responded to a commercial structure fire at 1028 South Columbia Street in Wenatchee. iFIBER ONE News was on scene only a few minutes after firefighters arrived to discover smoke emanating from the roof of the building. “The call came in as a commercial fire and first arriving units, the door was open and smoke was pouring out as well as coming out of the top vent, so we had a working fire for sure," said Chelan County Fire District 1 Deputy Chief Mike Burnett.

Oregon (WI) to Receive Federal Grant

According to a release, $116,100 was awarded as part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program for fiscal year 2017. The release said the money will retrofit the fire station's apparatus bay with an emissions disposal system that will catch diesel emissions and send them outside.  

The award is under the operations and safety program, as vehicle emissions are considered a human carcinogen, according to the International Agency for Cancer Research.
