VIDEO: On this day in 1996, one of the country’s worst-ever distillery fires began. At the Heaven Hill warehouses in Bardstown, Kentucky, a fire started in the afternoon on Nov. 7 that eventually destroyed nearly 100,000 barrels of bourbon.
A storm was brewing in the afternoon, with winds clocking in at 70 mph.

The Central Fire Station of the Killeen Fire Department is a full-purpose building designed for long shifts. The kitchen area, with different refrigerators for firefighters working various shifts, the sleeping areas and even fitness equipment donated by Planet Fitness all showcased the unique and embedded qualities of being a firefighter, which is that it is not a 9 to 5 job.

A 64-year-old Moses Lake man is dead after he became overwhelmed by flames and smoke in a late-night house fire on Sunday.
Moses Lake Firefighters say the fire was reported at around 10 p.m. at a home on Crestmont Drive in Moses Lake. Crews arrived to find a two-story consumed by flames; black smoke and flames could be seen coming from the front and rear of the structure.

PHOTOS: Newly released body camera videos show the emergency response to an explosion at a homeless encampment outside Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The explosion and subsequent fire happened on the morning of July 21 after witnesses in the encampment reported finding what they believed were improvised explosive devices around a tent where drug users were smoking fentanyl.

Russell fire chief Dylan Riedel now owns the motorcycle gas tank that changed his life forever when it exploded and engulfed him in flames this summer. It’s “just as a constant reminder that your life can change in an instant, so don’t take it for granted,” he said. The explosion happened less than 30 seconds after he got out of his fire truck.
