VIDEO: A morning swim during hazardous conditions in Lake Michigan on Sunday turned into a dramatic, large-scale rescue that also put first responders in danger. A Beach Hazard Warning was in effect at the time of the rescue. CBS 2 Investigator Megan Hickey had the story. The Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project said those signs are often missed or ignored.

VIDEO: Seattle City Light says it is closely monitoring the Sourdough Fire burning near its Skagit Hydroelectric Project, consisting of three dams near the towns of Diablo and Newhalem. These men and women aren’t preparing for a wildfire. Essentially, they’re attempting to prevent the next big one—they’re working on what’s known as a prescribed burn, a burn that’s meant to return natural processes to the land.

An explosion and fire at a Sherwin-Williams paint factory in Garland injured one employee and shut the facility down Monday morning, company officials said in a statement. The explosion happened around 1:15 a.m. Monday at the company's plant at South Shiloh Road and Forest Lane in Garland, according to the statement.
