‘Project Charlie’ puts life-saving gear in every fire department in one Alabama county

Alaskan capital of Juneau issues declaration of emergency after widespread river flooding sweeps away at least two structures

VIDEO: The City and Borough of Juneau issued a declaration of emergency on Sunday following a glacial lake outburst flooding event that swelled waters to record levels. At least two structures were swept up into rushing waters and other structures were evacuated on Saturday after the flooding event filled Mendenhall Lake and Mendenhall River to dangerously high levels.

North Cascades Highway closes indefinitely due to 0% contained Sourdough wildfire

VIDEO/PHOTOS: The North Cascades Highway — State Route 20 — has been closed indefinitely since Friday due to the ongoing Sourdough fire, which is 0% contained as of Monday morning. According to InciWeb, the fire — which started from a lightning strike — has been burning since Friday north of Diablo Lake, along Sourdough Ridge between Sourdough and Bucket Creeks, totaling 1,397 acres.

8 taken to hospital after deck collapses at Camp Killoqua in Stanwood

Eight people were taken to the hospital after a deck collapsed at a youth camp in Stanwood on Friday night. Fire crews responded to Camp Killoqua about 9 p.m. after 911 callers said a deck that was attached to a building collapsed. When crews arrived, several people were holding up the deck to rescue others who were trapped underneath.
