For the first time, emergency dispatchers for Snohomish County’s 47 police and fire agencies are operating together at one location, a move that has already helped improve service and save tax dollars. Before Wednesday, dispatchers were housed at two 911 call centers: SNOCOM in Mountlake Terrace and SNOPAC in Everett.

Fresh off of a water rescue Monday, Spokane fire crews are voicing their concerns about the Spokane River and the danger it presents to the public. Spokane Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer said the river is running fast, high and cold and is not safe for recreation. "Oftentimes people suffer the effects from hypothermia and don't realize it at first," Schaeffer said.

Two kids have been arrested after setting fire to the Mission View Elementary playground in South Wenatchee on Sunday. Firefighters responded to the blaze at the school just before 6 p.m. Chelan County Fire Marshal Bob Plum says motion sensor cameras captured five kids at the playground, then it stopped filming due to lack of motion and then was reactivated by the fire that was set.
