Pennsylvania fire department spotlights 1915 engine as it marks 125 years of service

PHOTOS: Long years of dedicated service are nothing new in the 125-year history of the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department. Take, for example, fire Chief Paul Harenchar, who has been a member of the firefighting organization for 41 years, or Bill Hare and Dave Bert — each with three decades or more of service, which includes caring for the department’s 109-year-old antique fire engine.

California nonprofit organization repurposes old fire hoses to prevent chains from sparking fires

VIDEO: A Yuba County nonprofit organization is using a creative approach in an effort to decrease the risk of wildfires in the foothills that could be sparked by dragging tow chains. The unique solution comes from repurposing a piece of unusable fire equipment. “A lot of people don’t even know that a dragging chain can cause a fire,” said Smartsville Fire Protection District Captain Glen Ford.

Fire in Mabton caused by Sparking Transformer

A fire broke out near Mabton, during the evening of Wednesday June 26. Scan reports suggest a spark from an electricity transformer ignited the blaze on State Route 22 near the Yakima River. Multiple stations responded, with West Benton Fire aid requested and bulldozers helping to create a fire wall.

Yakima County Fire Marshal Expands Residential Outdoor Burn Ban

In partnership with the Yakima County Fire Chiefs Association, the Yakima County Fire Marshal has expanded the county-wide burn ban for unincorporated Yakima County This change takes effect Monday, July 1, 2024, to include bonfires. The previous ban included only yard waste. In addition, burning debris or processed lumber is not allowed.
