VIDEO/PHOTOS: Residents who were evacuated due to a brush fire in Mason County were able to return to their homes Wednesday afternoon. The McEwan Fire is burning about four miles northeast of the town of Shelton, according to Central Mason Fire and EMS. The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said the fire had burned an estimated 257 acres and was still 0% contained as of Wednesday evening.

The Spokane Fire Department responded to a garage and house fire at the same location Wednesday afternoon, both being caused by fireworks. Firefighters were dispatched to 2323 W. College Ave. at 1 p.m. for a reported detached garage fire. Crews noticed some vegetation around the garage burning, which was quickly extinguished before it could spread further.

First responders in Whittier rushed to a fire at the city’s fuel dock just before noon on Tuesday. A call to the area’s dispatch confirmed that multiple crews were called to the scene, with fire and EMT teams from Whittier, Girdwood and surrounding towns. The Whittier Fire Department and the Coast Guard were also called to respond.

A Phoenix firefighter and three others were sent to the hospital following a crash in West Phoenix. It happened on Indian School Road near 70th Avenue just after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Security camera video from someone living at the apartment complex right where the crash happened shows the moments unfold.
