Seattle firefighters are speaking out against a budget proposal that would end clean-ups of unauthorized homeless camps in the city. Two people were rescued from a burning home on Thornton Drive overlooking the Dungeness Spit. The house at 20 Thornton Drive was declared a complete loss after the Friday blaze, which spewed flames and smoke seen as far away as Port Angeles. The homeowner, Dorothy Saxton, 95, and her daughter, Donna Huizinga, were rescued by electricians working nearby, said Assistant Chief Dan Orr of Clallam County Fire District No.
