Massachusetts town's firefighters become first in state equipped with personal thermal imaging cameras

A blinking green light could mean the difference between life and death the next time fire targets a house in town. The lights are located on the side of the new masks firefighters began wearing on the job earlier this month. With funding approved by Town Meeting last year, Plymouth is the first town in the state to outfit all of its firefighters with the thermal imaging technology.

Spokane Valley Fire captain terminated for religious messages can sue, state Supreme Court finds

A former Spokane Valley Fire Department captain fired for sending religious emails through his work account can file a lawsuit claiming damages, the Washington Supreme Court ruled Thursday. The department violated Jon Sprague’s First Amendment rights, according to the Supreme Court, when he was terminated in 2012 for repeatedly using work email to send messages to his Spokane Christian Firefighters Fellowship group.

Firefighters in Graham campaigning door to door to prevent layoffs and slower response times

It’s not everyday firefighters show up at your front step when you don’t have an emergency. But on Thursday, Graham firefighters went door to door personally asking for help. “Without these folks there wouldn’t be us,” firefighter John Corak said. On February 13, voters will determine whether a $4 million levy will get renewed.

Opening of Bryan (TX) Fire Station Delayed

Once finished, some of the department staff will relocate from the downtown Bryan station to the new station on Lawrence Street. The fire marshal's office will also move to the new station.

Firehouse Subs Buys Fire Equipment for Elizabethtown (KY) Firefighters

Each restaurant allows customers to "round up" their bill to the nearest dollar, and donate spare change to the Firehouse Subs' foundation.

Firefighters and franchisees thanked the community for their support on Wednesday.

"The foundation is so wonderful in that almost 90 cents of every dollar we help raise actually goes to you guys -- not administrative fees, doesn't go to corporate bills -- it goes to what it needs to go to, and that's a big deal for us," said Sarah Little, a franchisee.
