Longtime Pacific County Fire Commissioner McLeod dies

Pacific County Fire District 1 has scheduled a meeting to fill a vacancy on its board of commissioners at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the Ocean Park station, 26109 Ridge Ave. Longtime Commissioner Greg McLeod, 79, died on Nov. 30 in Long Beach. According to his biography on the fire district’s website, McLeod had served on the three-member commission since 2007.

Training burn provides Clallam County agencies, youths with rare learning opportunity

Firefighters found a body outside of a Renton home; Aerial photos show it could have been there for years before the fire

The body of one of two brothers found after firefighters were called to a Renton blaze earlier this month may have been laying in the yard — unreported and undiscovered — for at least two years, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office and the county’s parcel maps. The first body, believed to be that of Lawrence Steinert, 65, was found lying inside a small, fenced patio just outside the house in the 16000 block of 146th Avenue Southeast when firefighters extinguished the flames, sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt.
