CAL FIRE Station 81 In Paradise Gets Brand New Engine

It has a lower height that allows for better access to the narrow and steep roads and driveways of Paradise.

The new engine also gives better safety to the crew because of front and side impact airbags and up-to-date steering and break systems. It already got its first run during a structure fire Tuesday night.

Firefighters said it made a difference having this new engine because though the mobile home was fully engulfed when they arrived, crews were able to quickly protect the home that was threatened next door.

Ambulance, school bus involved in 405 crash

There were no schoolchildren on the bus at the time. The ambulance rolled over and the wreckage from the three vehicles blocked two lanes on the freeway and a Sigalert was issued. Four people - all of them on board the private ambulance - were injured in the crash, with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening, officials said.

Four Lakeshore (MI) Fire Departments Receive Grant For Automated CPR System

The money will go towards providing the tri-cities and surrounding townships with access to AutoPulse Resuscitation Systems, which provides automated CPR to victims of cardiac arrest. 

The Ferrysburg Fire Department, Grand Haven Department of Public Safety, Crockery Township Fire Department and Spring Lake Fire Department all received the AutoPulse Units on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Lawsuit: Illinois firefighters unwittingly handled hazardous chemical after being told it was vegetable oil

Barrington officials are suing a Canadian trucking company over the cleanup of a chemical spill last year, alleging firefighters unwittingly handled a hazardous chemical that damaged their equipment after being told the material was vegetable oil. The spill happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. March 7, when a semitrailer belonging to Xan Systems Inc.

Massachusetts fire chief placed on paid administrative leave

Robert Lay, the town’s fire chief since 2013, was recently placed on paid administrative leave by selectmen but said Tuesday he’d be willing to come back to work. For that to happen, however, Lay said he would like to see his contract renegotiated and a mixup over his health insurance costs cleared up.
