Lower Yakima Valley Ranchers' $15M Lawsuit Claims Army Sparked Wildfire

The late July day was hot, dry and windy. But the training with live ammunition at the Yakima Training Center went ahead as usual. A gunner fired at a target and the burst of ammunition ricocheted onto the ridge line, sparking a fire that spread across 275 square miles and threatened the Hanford nuclear reservation, according to a lawsuit filed this week in federal court.

FDNY Firefighters rescue critically injured man from burning apartment

Two firefighters, one with just a few months on the job, pulled a critically injured man from a burning Washington Heights apartment building Sunday night, an FDNY spokesman said. The blaze broke out just before 5:30 p.m., on the fourth floor of a building in the Rangel Houses along the Harlem River Drive.

Bainbridge Island Fire Dept. hosts Mega Code training for Medic One student paramedics

There were 48 heart attacks on Bainbridge Island last Saturday — and all in the same location. But that’s OK. It worked out as well as it could, because there was plenty of help around. Actually, if you were going to have a massive heart attack last weekend, Saturday, at the Bainbridge Island Fire Department’s Station 23 on Phelps Road, was kind of the ideal place to do it.
