Is Allentown (PA) Neglecting Fire Apparatus Fleet?

On the day fire gutted five row homes on Delaware Street in 2008 and made 19 people homeless, four Allentown fire engines were out of service, including the one at the nearby Mack South Fire Station.
Still, because of widespread equipment shortages at the city’s six fire stations, it would take about 15 minutes for two more engines and a ladder truck to arrive.

Fire Apparatus Lifts Spirits of Sycamore (IL) Child

Whoever said fire trucks are just for boys has never taken a ride on Leslie. On July 28, Leslie the Pink Heals fire truck made a special stop in Sycamore to pick up 7-year-old Caedyn Waxman, and the pink uniform-clad firefighters who stepped off had a special message for her: She's not fighting cancer alone.

Sycamore police and firefighters gave Leslie and escort from the station to the house on High Street. They shared hugs and gifts with Caedyn before she signed her name next to hundreds of others on the truck.

On Thursday night, at one of the subcommittee meetings - the response time committee - council members, firefighters and union leaders studied how fast fire trucks get to all areas of Hamilton.

Rockford (IL) Fire Department Holds Open House for Renovated Fire Station

The Rockford Fire Department hosts an open house Saturday for their recommissioned newly renovated Fire Station #7, which was originally opened in December of 1978. For the last 26 years, this building has been a repair facility, so now the department says they are recommissioning it with a fire apparatus and an ambulance to serve the community.
They say this will help improve the level of service to the community without adding extra personal or equipment. It is located right in the center of a neighborhood surrounded by several schools, so they can get to know the people around the neighborhood who they are there to protect.
