Man who survived head-on collision thanks Yakima firefighters who saved him

Back on July 18, an Idaho man was hit head-on by a car on Highway 12 in Yakima. The woman who hit him died, but he is alive today because of a crew of Yakima firefighters. 72-year-old Robert Hoss and his wife Diana know how lucky he is to be alive, so they wanted to say thank you to the men who saved his life.

2 taken to hospital after head-on crash in Newcastle

Firefighters are working to extricate people after a head-on crash Thursday afternoon on Newcastle Golf Club Road in Newcastle, according to the Bellevue Fire Department. One person is reportedly in serious condition and is being transported to a trauma hospital, according to Bellevue Fire. A second person from a different car has non-life threatening injuries and is also being transported to a hospital, according to Bellevue Fire.

Spokane (WA) Fire Department Will Use Drones to Help Police Investigations

The Spokane Police Department partnered with another emergency responder service to promote safety in the community. The Spokane Fire Department and SPD joined forces to investigate fatal car crashes using drones. Officials said the partnership came about when a fatal car crash on Division Street caused major traffic backup along I-90 and SPD needed to get aerial photos of the scene.

Fire Chief, Brian Schaeffer said that was when he decided there had to be a better way.

In the past, detectives used ladder trucks from the fire department to get photos from the scene of a crash, but Chief Schaeffer had a better idea. He said the fire department could use its drones to get footage for police, and the city council agreed.

Schaeffer said the fire department has four drones they use to assist crews while they battle and investigate fires.

Cops: Vandals Shatter Sarasota (FL) Fire Station Windows

A fire station in Sarasota was vandalized twice last month, according to the sheriff's office. According to detectives, two hurricane resistant windows were shattered on two separate occasions, resulting in an estimated $4,000 worth of damage. This happened once on August 3 and again on August 31.
Detectives said anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the agency’s Criminal Investigations Section at 941.861.4900. Tipsters can also submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers of Sarasota by calling 941.366.TIPS, or online at www.SarasotaCrimeStoppers.com.

U-Crest (NY) Fire Apparatus Snaps Power Pole

Traffic on Union Road is impacted after a U-Crest fire truck crashed into a power pole Thursday afternoon. First responders are on the scene at the corner of Union Road and Clover Place. A U-Crest fire truck struck a pole at the intersection around 12:45 pm. The pole snapped.
A law enforcement source at the scene says the fire truck was making a right-hand turn onto Union Road from Clover Place and cut the corner to close. The fire truck was not responding to an emergency.
